FREE Autism Awareness Fair on Salem Common

April is Autism Awareness Month
Saturday, April 14, 3:30 p.m. – 5pm p.m.

Great educational opportunity to learn about a few organizations on the North Shore that provide support services to families impacted by Autism.

Representatives from Northeast ARC, North Shore Infant & Toddler Program, For Jake’s Sake, Future’s Behavior Therapy Center, Action Ambulance, as well as other community organizations will be present. All representatives with be providing take-away information as well as a willingness to educate and answer questions.

*Free “sensory” friendly activities for kids!

There will also be a non-timed, FREE family friendly run/walk around Salem Common equaling about -2 miles

(Donations will benefit local Autism Organizations)

Items Needed for May 15th Women’s Boutique

Our annual Women’s Boutique fundraiser is happening May 15th, 2011 at the Salem YMCA. The sale will happen between 9am and 2pm with babysitting provided at the Salem Children’s Museum next door. The last hour of the sale is 50 percent off all items!

We are still looking for items to sell as well as clothes hangers and clothing racks. Anyone wishing to donate items such as gently worn clothing, shoes and handbags can drop them off at Mighty Aphrodite at 244 Essex Street. If you are willing to lend hangers and/or racks, please get in touch with our boutique coordinator.

North Shore Library Museum Pass Guide

Salem Public Library Museum Pass Program

A museum pass borrowed from Salem Public Library gives the user reduced admission to the museums.

The Boston Childrens’ Museum charges $2.00 per person with a library pass.

The Boston Museum of Science charges $5.00 per person with a library pass.

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts charges $5.00 per person with the pass.

The Peabody Essex Museum charges $5.00 per person with the pass, and a visit to the Chinese House is $5.00 per person with the pass.

The House of the Seven Gables pass admits four people at half price admission per person with the pass.

A pass may be borrowed for one day’s visit to a museum. Passes for the Peabody Essex Museum and the Hours of the Seven Gables may be picked up the evening before, and must be returned to the Reference desk after your visit to the museum. Passes for the Childrens’ , Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts are dated coupons which may be picked up in advance, and will be collected at the the museum.

Your library card must be presented when pickup up a museum pass. Advance reservation is recommended for weekends and school vacations. Passes may be reserved in person or by phone at the Reference Desk.
